Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in India has shifted from the periphery to the core of corporate strategy and identity, with significant developments in recent years. This research paper examines the period from 2017-18 to 2021-22 and presents key four propositions based on empirical data. The propositions are based on a) Percentage of companies meeting or exceeding prescribed CSR spending limits, b) Percentage of companies spending below the prescribed limit or zero spending on CSR activities, c) the amount spent by unlisted companies and d) the amount spent by non-public sector companies. The study reveals that CSR is transitioning from a mere regulatory requirement to a fundamental aspect of corporate strategy aligned with broader sustainability goals. This shift emphasizes that responsible corporate behaviour is not exclusive to publicly traded firms, illustrating the private sector's proactive role in creating positive societal and environmental impact.Published
