DOI:

The rise of online education has provided flexibility and accessibility to learners worldwide but has also led to digital fatigue—a state of mental, physical, and emotional exhaustion caused by prolonged screen exposure. Digital fatigue negatively impacts students' concentration, sleep quality, and overall well-being, reducing academic performance and motivation. Key contributing factors include excessive screen time, lack of physical activity, cognitive overload, and social isolation. To address this issue, educators and institutions must implement balanced learning strategies, promote regular screen breaks, and integrate digital well-being initiatives. Encouraging offline activities and optimizing course structures can help reduce fatigue and enhance learning effectiveness. By prioritizing student well-being, online education can maintain its benefits while minimizing adverse health effects, fostering a more sustainable and engaging learning environment.Published
