Abstract

In the era of rapid technological advancement, the role of educators has transcended traditional pedagogical boundaries, demanding a significant enhancement in their digital competence to effectively navigate the evolving educational landscape. Digital competence encompasses a broad spectrum of skills, including the ability to integrate digital technologies into teaching practices, fostering collaborative learning environments, and ensuring students' digital literacy. This chapter examines the imperative need for enhancing educators’ digital competence in preparing them for the future of education, emphasizing the shift from conventional teaching methodologies to more innovative, technology-driven approaches. Through an exploration of key frameworks such as the European Commission’s DigCompEdu, the chapter identifies the core competencies that educators must cultivate, including professional engagement, resource management, pedagogical integration, and assessment practices.
