MORAL EDUCATION: INTEGRATING VIRTUE DEVELOPMENT INTO COUNSELLING

Abstract

Many similarities are shown in morality and virtue ethics. Morality seeks right decisions from right and wrong thoughts. Virtue ethics basically described our hidden characteristics or qualities such as honesty, truthfulness, responsibilities etc. In counselling, a counselor always try to solve the client’s problem in positive way. So, the counselor may use these virtue ethics hidden in human mind. The client may return his/her normal situation by these virtues and he/she can change his/her behavior or changed his/her life in positive way. He/She takes right decisions in right time. So, in present, virtue ethics are used largely in psychology and psychotherapy. For growth of virtue ethics moral education should be given children from childhood and teachers should take responsibilities to teach morality and moral education in school. Moral education should be included in curriculum also.
