Abstract

Intimate partner violence (IPV) continues to be a significant and persistent issue within society, often going unnoticed. IPV affects hundreds of millions of women globally. Though all ages are affected, younger women are disproportionately affected. IPV can be physical, emotional, sexual, or combined. IPV can cause physical and severe psychological harm, but many victims fail to seek assistance. The connection between IPV and mental health disorders, particularly depression, is well-established, yet the problem remains insufficiently addressed. This review seeks to emphasize the severe effects of IPV on women's mental well-being and to underline the critical need for both social and legal changes to better support victims and combat this pervasive issue.
