Abstract

Higher education plays a transformative role in the realization of Viksit Bharat@2047, the vision of a developed India by the 100th year of its independence. As a critical enabler of socio-economic growth and innovation, higher education is pivotal in fostering knowledge, skills, and values that align with the nation's development goals. This abstract explores the multi-dimensional role of higher education in achieving this vision. Firstly, higher education institutions (HEIs) act as knowledge hubs, driving research and innovation in areas like sustainable technologies, artificial intelligence, and renewable energy. By fostering industry-academia collaboration, they contribute to the creation of cutting-edge solutions for national challenges. Secondly, higher education is essential for building human capital. It equips students with critical thinking, problem-solving, and leadership skills necessary for India's global competitiveness. Additionally, the inclusivity of higher education ensures that underrepresented communities have access to quality education, thereby reducing social inequalities. Programs focusing on skill development, entrepreneurship, and vocational training bridge the gap between education and employability, creating a workforce that is both skilled and adaptable.
