William Shakespeare has profoundly shaped modern English literature through his innovative use of language, narrative techniques, and character development. This historical and critical review explores Shakespeare’s enduring influence on literary traditions, linguistic evolution, and dramatic conventions. His works introduced new vocabulary, redefined dramatic structures, and enriched literary expression, setting a foundation for subsequent writers. Additionally, Shakespeare’s themes—ranging from human nature and political intrigue to existential dilemmas—continue to resonate in contemporary literature and theatrical adaptations. His stylistic innovations, including iambic pentameter and soliloquy, have inspired poets, novelists, and playwrights, reinforcing his relevance across centuries.
