Abstract

This article examines the impact of political and social changes on personal relationships in Khushwant Singh's novel Train to Pakistan. Set against the backdrop of the Partition of India, the novel explores the complex web of relationships between characters from different religious backgrounds. The research reveals how the tumultuous political and social landscape of the time disrupts and transforms personal relationships, leading to a breakdown in trust, loyalty, and communication. The study argues that Singh's novel offers a powerful critique of the devastating consequences of political and social upheaval on human relationships.
