Abstract

This chapter explores the intricate relationship among Adversity Quotient (AQ), Emotional Intelligence (EI), and Positive Psychology—three essential psychological constructs that collectively promote resilience, mental well-being, and holistic success. AQ, as introduced by Dr. Paul Stoltz, measures an individual’s capacity to withstand and overcome adversity. Emotional Intelligence, popularized by Daniel Goleman, refers to the ability to perceive, understand, and manage emotions effectively. Positive Psychology, led by Martin Seligman, emphasizes human strengths, virtues, and the pursuit of a meaningful life. The chapter highlights how these concepts interconnect, with learned optimism serving as a foundational theory, and illustrates how they contribute to personal growth, self-efficacy, and flourishing. By cultivating positive emotions, emotional regulation, and resilience, individuals can enhance their ability to face life’s challenges, maintain well-being, and succeed in both personal and professional domains.
