Abstract

Emerging issues in 21st century education in various forms like gender, identity, and diversity. The 21st century has witnessed a growing recognition of the complexities of gender, identity, and diversity within educational systems globally. As societies become more pluralistic, the role of education in shaping globally inclusive, equitable, and identity-affirming environments has become increasingly critical. This chapter explores the intersections of gender, identity, and diversity in contemporary education, addressing how systemic inequities, cultural representations, and institutional practices affect learners’ experiences through education. Through critical analysis of emerging issues such as gender fluidity, LGBTQ+ inclusion, multicultural education, and the decolonization of curricula, the chapter advocates for transformative educational practices. Emphasis is placed on inclusive pedagogies, teacher training, and policy reforms necessary to foster diversity, equity, and belonging in 21st-century classrooms. The chapter also highlights critical interventions required to counter gender-based discrimination, cultural biases, and systemic exclusion in Indian schools and higher education institutions.
