Abstract

Indian-related languages, also called Indigenous languages, act as carry the nature of culture, traditional knowledge, and social integrity. However, the rapid declines of these languages due to globalization, socio-political marginalization and inadequate political frameworks have raised concerns between linguists and political decision makers. This research paper critically examines the challenges related to preservation of indigenous language and examines potential opportunities for revitalization. A big challenge arises from the greater control of bigger languages, leading to the gradual disappearance of native languages over time. Moreover, indigenous languages are rarely included in formal education, given little government support, and have only a minimal presence online. As a result, they are slowly being forgotten—like a beautiful song fading away.
