The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 signifies a landmark reform in India’s educational landscape, introduced after more than three decades to align the system with the needs of the 21st century. The policy envisions a holistic, flexible, and multidisciplinary approach to education, emphasizing equity, inclusivity, and learner-centric methodologies. Key features include the restructuring of the school education system through the 5+3+3+4 model, integration of Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE), promotion of experiential and competency-based learning, and a shift from rote memorization to conceptual understanding. NEP 2020 also prioritizes teacher education, proposing a four-year integrated B.Ed. program, mentoring, and continuous professional development. It seeks to blend Indian knowledge systems and cultural heritage with modern pedagogical practices to create a globally competent yet rooted educational framework. The policy's success hinges on collaborative implementation involving educators, institutions, and policymakers. If effectively executed, NEP 2020 holds the potential to transform India into a global knowledge superpower, fostering lifelong learning and national development.Published
