Abstract

National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 marks a transformative milestone in Indian education, advocating for a multidisciplinary, flexible, and learner-centric approach. This paper examines the intersection of NEP 2020, multidisciplinary education, and educational management and administration, outlining the critical roles that educational leaders and institutions play in realizing these reforms. NEP 2020 envisions an education system that nurtures critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving through integrated and interdisciplinary learning experiences. To implement this vision effectively, educational management must adopt innovative strategies in curriculum design, pedagogy, and assessment. The paper explores how institutional leadership, teacher training, capacity building, and infrastructure development are essential in facilitating the shift toward multidisciplinary education. It also highlights challenges such as resistance to change, resource constraints, and the need for coherent policy execution. At the same time, it presents opportunities for improving student engagement, academic performance, and employability through holistic learning models. Emphasis is placed on the importance of collaborative efforts among policymakers, educators, administrators, and communities to build an inclusive and dynamic educational ecosystem. Ultimately, the paper underscores the necessity of visionary leadership and strategic planning in managing change and fostering a culture of innovation aligned with NEP 2020's goals for a more equitable and effective education system.
