Abstract

Education is fundamental for achieving full human potential, developing an equitable and educated society, and promoting national development. Providing universal access to quality education is the key to India’s continued ascent and leadership on the global stage in terms of economic growth, social justice and equality, scientific advancement, national integration, and cultural preservation. Universal high-quality education is the best way forward for developing and maximizing our country's rich talents and resources for the good of the individual, the society, the country, and the world. The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 marks a significant milestone in transforming India’s Education system. It aims to revolutionize education by establishing "an education system rooted in Indian ethos that contributes directly to transforming India, sustainably into an equitable and vibrant knowledge society, by providing high quality education to all, thereby making India a global knowledge superpower." The NEP 2020 aims to transform India's education system, focusing on holistic development, inclusivity, and a future-ready approach. It emphasizes student-centric learning, technology integration, and flexible degree structures. The policy also prioritizes research, critical thinking, and liberal arts education to build globally competitive graduates. New circumstances and realities necessitate new initiatives. The present time mandates that we be prepared with alternate modes of quality education whenever and wherever traditional and in-person modes of education are not feasible. In this regard, the National Education Policy 2020 recognizes the significance of maximizing the benefits of technology. Technology integration in education refers to the use of technology to enhance the learning experience of students. NEP 2020 places a strong emphasis on the integration of technology, recognizing its pivotal role in fostering holistic development. The chapter seeks to emphasize the recommendations made by NEP 2020 regarding the integration of technology in education, as well as examine the problems during implementation of the recommendations made by NEP 2020 regarding the integration of technology in education.
