Abstract

The characteristic features of the present day world include technological advancements leading to the rapid redundancy of previously developed technologies, the advent of diverse new fields of knowledge, and a plethora of information on several e-platforms. The educational system, therefore, needs to keep pace with such a dynamic world by blending traditional teaching methods with newer, more accommodative approaches that not only uphold the importance of fundamental courses but also embrace newly emerging fields of knowledge, and foster the development of desired skills, values, and ethos in students. This can be achieved through the adoption of multidisciplinary education and inclusive pedagogy. It will not only prepare a national workforce equipped to meet the challenges arising from technological advancements, but will also gradually mitigate socioeconomic disparities. Moreover, such educational practices have been a part of the traditional Indian knowledge system. What is needed is to redefine these practices so they evolve scientifically, thereby improving access to education, promoting equity, and helping bridge the socioeconomic divide. Using case studies and insights from frameworks like the National Education Policy, the chapter also seeks to provide practical solutions that foster holistic development for marginalized learners and reduce socioeconomic barriers.
