REFINING ASSESSMENT AND EVALUATION METHODS IN INTEGRATED TEACHER EDUCATION PROGRAMS (ITEP): A PATHWAY TO IMPROVED EDUCATIONAL QUALITY AND EQUITY

The Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) is a four-year course that aims to prepare teachers for various levels of school education in India. It is based on the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasizes the need for multidisciplinary and holistic education. ITEP integrates pedagogy and content, along with liberal disciplines of knowledge and the field of education. It provides a dual-major bachelor's degree in Education with a specific field such as language, economics, mathematics, computer science, history, music, chemistry, art, physical education, and so on. ITEP also ensures that outstanding students enter the teaching profession and are well-versed in Indian values, knowledge, languages, tribal tradition, ethos, and the latest advances in educational pedagogy. In the present paper, the researchers explored innovative approaches to assessment and evaluation and identified various challenges in implementing assessment and evaluation in ITEP.Further, the researchers proposed best practices for effective assessment and evaluation in ITEP and provided recommendations for future research.Published
