The integration of Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) of India with the modern education framework represents a transformative approach to enriching pedagogical practices and fostering sustainable, culturally rooted learning. Grounded in India’s diverse scientific, philosophical, and cultural traditions—such as Vedic mathematics, Ayurveda, and yogic sciences—IKS offers epistemologies that emphasize holistic development, ethical values, and ecological consciousness. The primary objective is to examine integration of IKS with education system for educational sustainability. This study used qualitative research method. Studies indicate that such integration can advance Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4) by making education more inclusive, equitable, and relevant to India’s socio-cultural context. The integration of IKS enhances student engagement, strengthens teacher-student relationships, promotes creativity, and supports vocational and value-based education. It also revives traditional practices that foster ecological sensitivity and social responsibility. However, successful implementation requires teacher training, curriculum redesign, and institutional support. The study concludes that blending IKS with modern education creates a balanced, contextually relevant, and sustainable learning environment suitable for India’s diverse socio-cultural landscape.Published
