HOLISTIC EDUCATION AS A REHABILITATIVE STRATEGY FOR JUVENILE DELINQUENCY: A CONCEPTUAL AND CASE-BASED ANALYSIS

Abstract

Juvenile delinquency remains a persistent concern in both developed and developing nations, with significant implications for public safety and social welfare. Traditional punitive approaches have shown limited success in reducing recidivism among juveniles. This paper investigates the role of holistic education in the rehabilitation and reintegration of juvenile delinquents, emphasizing the importance of emotional, cognitive, and vocational development. Drawing on psychological and sociological theories, empirical studies, and international case comparisons, the paper argues that holistic education—grounded in empathy, trauma-informed care, and individualized learning—has transformative potential. The paper also critically examines challenges in the Indian juvenile justice system and offers policy and practice recommendations to embed holistic education into correctional pedagogy.
