The current state of world is characterized by rapid technological upliftment, emotional intricacies, and global uncertainty. As a result of which the need for holistic education has become increasingly vital. This approach of education gives importance to the all-around development of learners, including their cognitive, emotional, and spiritual aspects. Within this framework, Grit, as a non-cognitive trait, sustains passion and perseverance for long-term goals. It helps in the improvement of emotional and motivational aspects of learning. Furthermore, Metacognition as a cognitive trait helps learners with the ability to think about their thinking. It helps them to plan, observe, and assess their learning processes. Together, these two psychological constructs contribute significantly to academic success and also to the personal growth of learners. This conceptual paper examines the ways these two psychological concepts can serve as central ingredients for holistic education in the 21st century. It also highlights different pedagogical strategies to incorporate grit and metacognition into classroom practices.Published
