Health psychology and behavioural medicine are concerned with the influence of psychological, social, and biological variables on health outcomes. Here, occupational therapy (OT) is a significant contributor in both addressing functional issues and behavioural and psychosocial factors of health. This chapter considers the joint role of OT in health psychology, highlighting how participation in purposeful activities influences motivation, treatment compliance, and general well-being. Employing theoretical models like the Model of Human Occupation (MOHO) and the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF), the chapter illustrates OT interventions in chronic illness management, mental health promotion, and lifestyle modification. Practical examples illustrate how OT facilitates behaviour change, manages stress, and facilitates activity participation, all of which contribute to comprehensive rehabilitation. The chapter also addresses emerging topics such as digital health, community interventions, and collaboration in behavioural medicine. Through the integration of health psychology and occupational therapy, this chapter emphasizes the value of occupation-focused practice to enhance resilience, self-efficacy, and ultimate health outcomes.Published
