Abstract

Teacher mental health is a very important factor affecting the quality of education and student learning. Teachers and professors frequently experience high academic stress due to workload demands, classroom challenges, emotional responsibilities and limited institutional support increasing the risk of anxiety, depression and burnout. Various studies shown that poor mental health negatively affect the classroom challenges, teacher student relationship and the overall learning environment thereby impairing student’s academic performance and socio-emotional development. This chapter reviews the current evidence on mental health challenges among teachers and analyses their direct and indirect effect on learning processes and outcomes and coping strategies also.
