Abstract

Academic success at all educational levels is significantly influenced by mental health. Good mental health promotes motivation, engagement, attention, and memory, all of which are critical for successful learning. On the other hand, poor academic performance, worse grades, absenteeism, and an increased chance of dropout are regularly linked to mental health issues like anxiety, depressive disorders, and chronic stress. Research involving cross-sectional, longitudinal, and experimental studies show that there is a reciprocal association between poor mental health and academic performance, with academic challenges exacerbating psychological well-being. Therefore, including mental health care into educational environments is crucial to enhancing students' academic performance and well-being.
