Catastrophic Thinking is a form of distorted and exaggerated thinking in which an individual interprets minor problems or uncertainties as severe and disastrous outcomes. This pattern of thinking leads to mental stress, anxiety, lack of self-confidence, poor decision-making, and overall psychological imbalance. In contemporary educational and social contexts, the prevalence of catastrophic thinking has been increasing, adversely affecting individuals’ mental well-being and functional efficiency. In this context, the present study critically examines the effectiveness of the yogic perspective in addressing catastrophic thinking. From a yogic standpoint, the mind, body, and breath are viewed as an integrated whole. Yogic practices such as asana, pranayama, meditation, mindfulness, and yoganidra help calm the nervous system, regulate emotions, and develop conscious control over thought processes. Through regular yogic practice, individuals learn to remain grounded in the present moment, which gradually reduces future-oriented fear and exaggerated negative imagination. This critical study reveals that the yogic perspective offers a safe, natural, and long-term psychological approach to reducing the ill effects of catastrophic thinking. Therefore, yoga may be considered an effective alternative pathway for enhancing mental well-being and self-regulation.Published
