Abstract

The present study investigates the role of mental health in learners’ academic achievement and the mediating role of teachers in developing students’ mental well-being. 120 teachers from four schools of Kolkata and Howrah regions were taken as samples. The study analyses differences based on gender and habitat area of the samples. Findings reveal that mental health significantly influences motivation, attention, emotional regulation and academic performance, while teachers play a crucial role through emotional guidance and supportive classroom practices. No significant gender difference was found in teachers’ mediating role, whereas a significant difference emerged between urban and rural teachers.
