This chapter examines how Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) can be used to revitalize education by reshaping the idea of education in terms of the concept of MindCraft, which focuses on the development of wisdom instead of acquisition of information. Indian philosophy separates the concept of jnana (knowledge) and vijnana (wisdom or realized knowledge) to highlight an approach to knowing that is stratified, beginning with data, moving to insight, and followed by ethical action. This vision resonates well with the modern scientific discoveries in cognitive neuroscience and educational psychology that support the advantages of contemplative practices, including mindfulness and metacognition, in improving attention, emotional control and reflective awareness.Published
