EMPOWERING THE GLOBAL SOUTH: INDIA’S SOVEREIGN AI REVOLUTION AND THE "पढ़AI" EDUCATIONAL TRANSFORMATION

Abstract

This chapter examines the strategic outcomes of the India AI Impact Summit 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The summit represents a paradigm shift from theoretical AI governance to population-scale implementation, establishing India as the principal architect of the Global South’s "AI for All" movement. Critical milestones detailed include the India AI Mission’s expansion to 58,000+ GPUs and the launch of 12 sovereign foundation models, led by the multimodal BharatGen. The chapter further examines the M.A.N.A.V. framework (Moral, Accountable, National, Accessible, Valid) and the "Three Sutras" as catalysts for a projected $200 billion economic stimulus. Central to this transformation is the "पढ़AI" Revolution, which utilizes the Bharat Education AI Stack and Bhashini Initiative to democratize cognitive tools. By empowering educators through the Shikshak App, India has developed a scalable blueprint for bridging the global digital divide and ensuring "last-mile" educational equity.
