As conventional teacher-centered methods give way to more participatory, student-centered approaches, collaborative and cooperative learning practices have become essential in today's classrooms. These approaches prioritize competency-based, inclusive, and experiential learning in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. While cooperative learning is organized group work with clearly defined roles and individual accountability, collaborative learning enables students to actively participate in knowledge production through discussion, shared responsibility, and teamwork. These methods improve critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving abilities and are based on important theoretical frameworks like Vygotsky's Zone of Proximal Development and theories of cooperation and social interaction. Methods like Jigsaw, Problem-Based Learning, Think-Pair-Share, and peer teaching promote critical 21st-century skills and promote holistic growth. However, there are obstacles to successful implementation, such as big class numbers, time constraints, complicated assessments, and uneven student involvement. Careful planning, organized group dynamics, precise role distribution, and the use of technology to promote participation and oversight are all necessary to address these problems. All things considered, cooperative and collaborative learning are essential to NEP 2020's revolutionary vision, greatly enhancing student engagement, academic achievement, and the growth of social skills and lifetime learning.Published
