Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) is increasingly recognized as an essential element of health professions education, especially in physiotherapy, where meaningful patient interaction and holistic management are fundamental. SEL includes key competencies such as self-awareness, self-regulation, social awareness, interpersonal skills, and responsible decision-making, as described by the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning framework. The integration of SEL within physiotherapy training supports students in regulating emotions, enhancing communication abilities, and fostering effective therapeutic relationships. In clinical practice, these skills are associated with improved patient-centered care, better treatment compliance, and stronger interprofessional teamwork. However, despite its growing importance, SEL remains insufficiently embedded in physiotherapy curricula due to challenges such as overloaded academic programs and limited faculty preparedness. This chapter examines the significance of SEL in both educational and clinical contexts, its influence on professional development and patient outcomes, and approaches for successful implementation. Strengthening SEL within physiotherapy education can help connect technical expertise with empathetic practice, thereby enhancing rehabilitation outcomes and overall healthcare quality.Published
