Abstract

Teaching, learning, and patient care in physiotherapy are all greatly impacted by ethical values. This chapter looks at important ethical ideas and how they might be used in clinical and educational contexts. In directing practice, it emphasizes fundamental principles including autonomy, beneficence, non-maleficence, justice, and professional responsibility. With an emphasis on the role of educators in fostering professionalism, academic integrity, and reflective thinking, the incorporation of ethics within physiotherapy education is highlighted. There includes discussion of ethical issues in the teaching-learning process, such as student responsibility, mentoring, and moral reasoning. The chapter discusses fundamental ethical duties in patient care, including informed consent, confidentiality, respect for patient dignity, and patient-centred, culturally competent treatment. Additionally, it examines the significance of interprofessional cooperation and ethical decision-making in challenging clinical circumstances. Additionally, new issues like tele-rehabilitation, technology development, and fair healthcare delivery are examined. Overall, the chapter emphasizes how crucial ethical competence is to raising the standard of education, improving patient outcomes, and fostering professional trust.
