Abstract

Integrating STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) into physiotherapy represents a transformative approach to healthcare innovation, aligning with global trends emphasizing interdisciplinarity, technology adoption, and patient-centered care. This chapter explores how STEAM principles enhance physiotherapy education and practice by fostering critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills. The integration of advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, wearable sensors, robotics, and tele-rehabilitation supports data-driven and personalized treatment approaches. Engineering innovations contribute to assistive devices and rehabilitation tools, while the inclusion of arts enhances patient engagement, empathy, and holistic care delivery. Mathematical applications enable biomechanical analysis and outcome measurement, strengthening clinical decision-making. The chapter also highlights the role of interdisciplinary education, professional development, and social-emotional learning in preparing future physiotherapists. Despite challenges such as resource limitations and curricular constraints, STEAM integration offers significant potential to improve clinical outcomes, innovation capacity, and healthcare accessibility, shaping the future of physiotherapy practice globally.
