Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) represent a holistic tradition of education and wisdom rooted in the Vedas, Upanishads, epics, and classical Indian philosophy. These systems emphasize the integrated development of intellectual, moral, emotional, and spiritual dimensions of human life. The present study explores the role of Indian Knowledge Systems in character building and lifelong learning. Core concepts such as Dharma, Karma, Ahimsa, and self-realization provide the ethical foundation for developing responsible, compassionate, and disciplined individuals. The Gurukul system promoted value-based and experiential education through close teacher-student relationships, discipline, self-reliance, and holistic learning practices. Indian traditions also encourage lifelong learning by viewing education as a continuous journey of self-improvement and wisdom. Practices such as yoga, meditation, reflective learning, and storytelling contribute significantly to emotional balance, moral awareness, and personal growth. In the contemporary context of stress, moral decline, and environmental crises, IKS offers valuable insights for creating ethical, emotionally resilient, and socially responsible citizens. However, effective integration of IKS into modern education requires curriculum reforms, teacher training, research, and awareness. The study concludes that combining ancient Indian wisdom with modern educational approaches can promote character formation, holistic development, and lifelong learning in the twenty-first century.Published
