Abstract

India has long been known as a center of rich culture and scientific knowledge. Ancient Indian Civilizations developed advanced ideas in various fields named astronomy, medicine, metallurgy, agriculture, mathematics, and technology by combing observation, reasoning and practical experience to understand this mysterious nature and to helps the society. This chapter examines the scientific and technological achievements of ancient India, especially in the fields of physics and biological sciences. The present chapter also discusses scientific developments in regions like Jammu and Kashmir and Rajasthan, thereby showing how local people knowledge made remarkable contribution to India’s scientific heritage.
