BEYOND TRADITIONAL CLASSROOMS: INNOVATIVE PEDAGOGIES SHAPING FUTURE PHYSIOTHERAPY EDUCATION

Abstract

Teaching and learning are the primary tools for knowledge and skill acquisition making the foundation of education. Traditionally, skill training and clinical placements have been regarded as pioneering approach for the skills acquisition, competence development along with life-long learning in healthcare education. The integration of the emerging digital technologies in medical science has led to redefine the current scenario of healthcare education pedagogy. Physiotherapy education is itself a diverse and complex nature of organisation that is driven by the constant change according to the necessity. Contemporary education and its emergence with innovative pedagogies, challenges traditional paradigm and forced to re-examine the boundaries of curriculum to outcomes. Thus, modern transition of teaching methods has given rise to the innovative models of education delivery by shifting the focal point from teacher-led to students-cantered education. In this chapter we will discuss the need for the innovation, supporting theories, form of innovation followed by clinical education, assessment and their implication.
