LEADERSHIP, TEACHING AND EDUCATIONAL MANAGEMENT IN PHYSIOTHERAPY

Abstract

Besides exercise therapy and rehabilitation, physiotherapy has developed as an important branch of medicine. In today’s healthcare systems, physiotherapists are expected to be educators, mentors, leaders, administrators and researchers, as well as clinicians to treat patients. Improving physiotherapy education, professional development and health services are mainly the responsibility of leadership, teaching and educational administration. This chapter discusses the ideas, tenets and applications of teaching, leadership and educational administration in physiotherapy. It covers teaching methods, curriculum design, professional ethics, leadership types, traits of effective leaders and challenges in physiotherapy education. The chapter also highlights the importance of continuing education, teamwork, communication and evidence-based practice in the production of competent physiotherapists. Furthermore, it emphasizes the need for organized educational systems and strong leadership to improve academic standards, patient care, and the overall growth of the physiotherapy profession worldwide.
