Abstract

By removing geographical restrictions and providing flexible, interactive, and self-paced learning opportunities, digital learning and e-learning have revolutionized physiotherapy education. The conceptual framework, historical development, and various modalities, such as synchronous, asynchronous, blended, mobile, and virtual simulation-based learning, are all covered in this chapter's thorough overview of digital learning in physiotherapy. In the context of physiotherapy curricula, important e-learning platforms like Learning Management Systems (LMS), Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), and Virtual Reality (VR)/Augmented Reality (AR) tools are covered. The importance of artificial intelligence (AI) in personalizing education is examined alongside applications in anatomy instruction, clinical skills training, case-based learning, tele-rehabilitation, and evidence-based practice. Along with addressing issues like the digital gap, faculty preparedness, and ethical concerns, the chapter provides evidence-based suggestions for successful implementation. To help educators and institutions maximize digital learning for physiotherapy training, future directions such as gamification, adaptive learning, and AI-driven assessment are highlighted.
