Abstract

Simulation-based learning is an extensive educational method that can be blended into a healthcare training curriculum for skill and knowledge acquisition. It has become a core element in fields where risk, uncertainty and coordination are part of everyday work. During the internship or clinical postings, students are subject to anxiety and pressure that could create a fear of making mistakes. Hence, simulation-based learning acts as a bridge between theoretical learning and real-life experiences, by creating a safe environment where errors become an opportunity to learn and boost confidence amongst students. It gives them a safe space to practice complex tasks, learn from mistakes and build skills without risking harm to themselves, others or machinery. This chapter explores the theory of simulation-based learning, emphasizing its role in physiotherapy training, discussing the core elements, components, modalities, applications, and future perspectives.
