Evidence-based practice (EBP) has become a fundamental component of contemporary physiotherapy education and clinical practice. It involves the integration of the best available research evidence, clinical expertise, and patient values to support informed decision-making and optimize patient outcomes. The adoption of EBP has transformed physiotherapy from a tradition-based profession to one grounded in scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and patient-centered care. This chapter explores the evolution, principles, and significance of evidence-based physiotherapy, highlighting its role in improving the quality, effectiveness, and safety of rehabilitation interventions. It discusses the key components and steps of EBP, including formulating clinical questions, searching for relevant evidence, critically appraising research, applying findings in practice, and evaluating outcomes. The chapter also examines the incorporation of evidence-based principles into physiotherapy education, emphasizing the development of research literacy, clinical reasoning, and lifelong learning skills among students and practitioners. Additionally, common barriers to EBP implementation and strategies to overcome them are addressed. By promoting the integration of research evidence into clinical decision-making, evidence-based physiotherapy enhances professional competence, supports ethical practice, and contributes to improved healthcare outcomes. Ultimately, EBP serves as a cornerstone for advancing physiotherapy education, research, and clinical excellence in an evolving healthcare environment.Published
