Digital pedagogy and online teaching have become fundamental components of contemporary education, transforming the ways in which teaching, learning, and assessment are designed and delivered. The rapid advancement of digital technologies, accelerated by global educational disruptions and the emergence of Artificial Intelligence, has created unprecedented opportunities for innovative, flexible, and learner-centred educational practices. Consequently, teacher education institutions are required to prepare future educators who possess not only strong pedagogical knowledge but also advanced digital competencies, technological proficiency, and the ability to facilitate meaningful learning in virtual and blended environments. This chapter examines the conceptual foundations of digital pedagogy, traces the evolution of online teaching, and explores the emerging competencies required for teachers in the digital era. It discusses the integration of technology-enhanced learning environments, Learning Management Systems, multimedia resources, Artificial Intelligence, immersive technologies, and digital assessment practices that are reshaping classroom instruction and teacher preparation. The chapter further highlights the importance of digital literacy, pedagogical innovation, professional identity, ethical responsibility, inclusive practices, and lifelong professional learning in developing future-ready educators. It also critically examines the challenges associated with digital transformation, including the digital divide, institutional readiness, cybersecurity, and ethical concerns related to technology use. Finally, the chapter proposes strategic directions for strengthening digital pedagogy through curriculum innovation, capacity building, policy support, and collaborative partnerships. It concludes that the future of teacher education depends on achieving a balanced integration of technological advancement with pedagogical excellence, human values, and inclusive educational practices. Such an approach will prepare resilient, innovative, and globally competent teachers capable of meeting the evolving demands of twenty-first-century education and contributing to sustainable educational transformation.Published
