Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has transformed the process of teacher education, making it happen faster and making the methods of preparing teachers more traditional. This chapter discusses what changes have occurred in teacher education after the pandemic, which implications they have for the training of teachers who need to become ready for changing realities of the modern world. First, the chapter provides an overview of the shortcomings that showed up in teacher education before the outbreak of the pandemic. Then, it talks about the problems that arose in the process of switching to emergency remote teaching, which was done quite unexpectedly. The next several sections of the chapter focus on the changes that emerged in the field, including hybrid learning, digital pedagogy, valid assessment, cooperative online learning, etc.
